Frequently Asked Questions

How often will a nurse visit for wound care?

Visit frequency depends on the wound type, dressing requirements, and your clinical needs. Some wounds require daily visits; others every two to three days. Your nurse will recommend an appropriate schedule at the first visit and adjust as the wound progresses.

Can I get wound care at home after surgery?

Yes — this is one of the most common reasons people contact us. We can begin post-surgical wound care as soon as you’re discharged, including staple and suture removal, drain management, and VAC dressing changes. We work from your discharge summary and liaise with your surgeon as needed.

Is wound care at home covered by NDIS or My Aged Care?

Yes, in most cases. Wound care nursing visits are claimable under NDIS and can also be funded through a My Aged Care Home Care Package. We are a registered NDIS provider. Contact us to discuss your funding situation and we can confirm what’s covered.

Do I need a doctor referral to access wound care at home?

No doctor referral is required to become a Wattletree Health Group client. We accept self-referrals, and also referrals from family and friends, GPs, hospitals, My Aged Care Home Care Package (HCP) and Support At Home (SAH) providers, NDIS Support co-ordinators, allied health, and all other healthcare organisations. We are registered NDIS providers, and also approved providers for TAC and WorkSafe.
