Does the TAC cover home nursing?
Yes — nursing care at home is a recognised entitlement under TAC funding for eligible clients. The TAC will assess what nursing support is reasonably required as part of your recovery. Wattletree Health Group works directly with your case manager to obtain approval and manage billing.
Will there be any out of pocket (gap) expenses?
TAC nursing rates are lower than industry benchmark rates, the Nurses’ award, and NDIS pricing rates on which Wattletree Health Group service costs are aligned. This can result in a “gap” payment, for which Wattletree Health Group typically applies on your behalf for an “Above Rate Service Agreement” (an application for TAC to pay the higher WHG rates). If approved, there is generally no gap payment required, however, we typically pursue a private billing arrangement to cover any TAC shortfalls. This can be discussed with our clinical leadership team.
Do I need a referral to access TAC nursing at home?
A referral from your treating doctor or specialist is required for TAC-funded nursing. Your TAC case manager can assist in obtaining this. If you need care urgently before TAC approval is in place, we can also see you as a private client in the interim.
Can I choose my own TAC nursing provider?
Yes — TAC clients generally have the right to choose their preferred provider. You can nominate Wattletree Health Group as your nursing provider by discussing this with your TAC case manager.
