Frequently Asked Questions
Does my NDIS plan need to specifically mention nursing for me to access WHG’s services?
Ideally yes — your plan should include funding for health-related nursing supports under Core Supports or Improved Health and Wellbeing. If your plan doesn’t currently include nursing, your Support Coordinator can request a plan review and provide clinical evidence (from your GP, specialist, or our nurses) to support the inclusion of nursing supports. Can WHG nurses provide high-intensity supports such as tracheostomy care?
Yes. Tracheostomy management, complex medication administration, and other high-intensity daily personal activities are recognised NDIS supports that our experienced registered nurses are trained and qualified to deliver. We can provide the required clinical documentation to support their inclusion in your plan.
What is the difference between an NDIS-registered and unregistered nursing provider?
A registered provider like Wattletree Health Group has been assessed against the NDIS Practice Standards and is audited by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Agency-managed and plan-managed participants must use registered providers for nursing supports. Self-managed participants may use unregistered providers, but a registered provider offers additional accountability and compliance assurance.
Do I need a referral to access NDIS nursing care through WHG?
No referral is required to become a Wattletree Health Group client. We accept self-referrals, and also referrals from family and friends, GPs, hospitals, My Aged Care Home Care Package (HCP) and Support At Home (SAH) providers, NDIS Support co-ordinators, allied health, and all other healthcare organisations. We are registered NDIS providers, and also approved providers for TAC and WorkSafe.
Can WHG provide a nursing assessment report to support an NDIS plan review?
Yes. Our nurses can conduct a clinical assessment and provide a written report documenting the participant’s health-related support needs, the clinical rationale for nursing involvement, and the recommended frequency and nature of nursing visits. This type of report is commonly used to support plan reviews where nursing supports are being requested or increased.
