Yes. Wattletree Health Group can arrange a nursing visit on your day of discharge or the following day for private clients — no waitlist. If you’re being discharged with wound care, medication needs, or a clinical monitoring requirement, call us on 03 9140 0944 before discharge and we’ll have a nurse ready.
Can WHG nurses administer IV antibiotics at home following a hospital discharge?
Yes, in coordination with your hospital or treating doctor. IV antibiotic therapy at home (often called HITH — Hospital in the Home) requires a prescription and clinical order from your treating team. Our nurses administer and monitor the infusion and report back to the hospital or GP. This is commonly used following orthopaedic, abdominal, or soft tissue infections.
Is illness and injury nursing covered by TAC or WorkSafe?
Yes, where your nursing needs relate to a transport or workplace accident. Wattletree Health Group is an approved provider for both TAC and WorkSafe. Your claims manager can arrange a referral, or you can contact us directly and we can help facilitate the process. Approval by your claims manager is required before we commence care under these schemes.
Do I need a referral to access illness and injury nursing at home?
No referral is required to become a Wattletree Health Group client. We accept self-referrals, and also referrals from family and friends, GPs, hospitals, My Aged Care Home Care Package (HCP) and Support At Home (SAH) providers, NDIS Support co-ordinators, allied health, and all other healthcare organisations. We are registered NDIS providers, and also approved providers for TAC and WorkSafe.
How long will I need nursing support after an illness or injury?
This depends entirely on your condition, the complexity of your care needs, and how your recovery progresses. Some clients need nursing for a week post-surgery; others with complex wounds or ongoing medication needs may require visits for several months. Our nurses reassess your needs at each visit and work with your GP and specialist to adjust the care plan. You’re never locked into a set number of visits — we scale up or down as your recovery dictates.
