Coolaroo was developed as part of the postwar expansion of the Broadmeadows municipality in the 1960s and 1970s, sharing the broader Broadmeadows story of large-scale Housing Commission development and the industrial growth that accompanied the arrival of the Ford factory and other major manufacturers along the Hume Highway.
